Wednesday , Mauricio one of the chefs that works for me was hosting the Koche at his house. This entails a lot of work and participation from family and friends .First the carriage is made at his house ready for the procession which is supposed to start at 5 ish but didnt happen until 7 ish ………………. well it is Mexico and one gets used to it.
The carriage is then taken to the house that is hosting Jesus in their house. Here the young ladies in all their beautiful attire wait patiently whilst a mass is said on the front porch where all the hosts are present.
The band waits too ready to strike up the familiar tunes and the boys that are going to carry the young girls prepare themselves for the event.
usually there are only four girls but this night they packed tight on four chairs at least 7 that I could count.Once seated the boys hoisted up the carriage and sped off like a streak of lightning to the house of Mauricio on the other side of town.
Once there the girls descend and food and drinks are served
Next year Mauricio and his family will receive the statue of Jesus in their house.
